TURKOFAMERICA Selects Most Influential Turkish Women in USA

The United States of America is no doubt the center of the world in many walks of life and the relations between Turkey and this country have a very meaningful background. In fact as Turkish citizens living in this country have become more populated in time, the two countries have found much more in common to share, economic affairs and culture to be in the first place. To parallel this development, Turkish business people in this country as well as others in different walks of life have started to play more important roles in their fields and put signature under some outstanding achievements.

To enhance this fact, Turkish-American women have inspired millions of Americans in the recent years and for the first time TURKOFAMERICA, a Turkish-American Business Magazine has selected a list of the most influential Turkish-American Women. Within this framework an important event organized by TURKOFAMERICA took place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on March17th, 2016 where 30 influential women leaders from across the U.S. competed in 30 categories. One of these wonderful women is my dear friend (Nilüfer Durak who I met a couple of years ago at an event of TurkishWIN for their first members in Agatha Restaurant of Pera Palas İstanbul.)

This list of the most influential Turkish-American Women which was prepared after many interviews, search of resumes, examination of many websites included entrepreneurs and visionary CEO’s, celebrity role models and pioneer philanthropists who care about transforming the world for the good.

Thus, 30 influential women leaders from across the U.S. competed in 30 categories to be crowned the winner. The night also honored the world-famous Dr. Mehmet Oz. Important persons such as Ertan Yalçın, Turkish Consulate General of New York, Carolyn Maloney, US Congresswoman, Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ, Chairperson of Doğan TV Holding, Hamdi Ulukaya, Founder of Chobani, Vuslat Doğan Sabancı, Chairwoman of Hurriyet, President of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Nancy Ploeger, Turkish Philanthropy Funds Chairman Mustafa K. Abadan and the Women and Democracy Association (KADEM) participated in the awards ceremony, as well.

We as KAGIDER (Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey) also shared the honor of being present at this gathering to celebrate the wonderful achievements of Turkish women in the USA. Our President Sanem Oktar had the privilege to make an impressive speech to an esteemed audience.

We only hope we will be able to come together to share many more of such joyful celebrations to be proud of, in the future as well.
